James Taylor – The Hits
James Taylor first received worldwide recognition with his 1970 album Sweet Baby James and the hit single “Fire and Rain”. The next year he had the biggest hit of his career with the #1 hit “You’ve Got A Friend”, which earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance in 1971. Over four decades later he has sold over 100 million albums, earned 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, and has been inducted into both the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Taylor’s songs have had a profound influence on songwriters and music lovers from all walks of life, including hits like “Country Road”, “Your Smiling Face”, “Sweet Baby James”, “Shower The People”, “Up on the Roof”, “Carolina in My Mind”, “Mexico”, and “How Sweet It Is”.
Bringing these songs and many more to life is internationally acclaimed pop pianist and vocalist Phil Thompson who continues touring the globe at venues including the MGM Grand Macau in China, Mandalay Bay and Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and dozens of high-profile sporting events including the US Open Tennis Tournament in NYC for 3 years in a row as well as the Rogers Cup in Toronto and Shanghai Rolex Masters. Phil has also headlined on several specialty-themed cruise events, most recently on the “Wine, Dine & Music Cruise” as spotlighted on USA Today with Kenny Loggins and Three Dog Night and Phil has also served as an opening act for artists including the David Foster, Brian McKnight, The Canadian Tenors, Charice, and Clay Aiken to name a few.
When not on the road, Phil has been seen here in the Twin Cities producing and performing in sold-out shows at the historic Fitzgerald and Pantages Theaters as well as on WCCO TV as their “Man About Town”.
