Featuring the Shabby Road Orchestra
I’d Love to Turn You On – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Plus the Studio Years
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is widely considered the greatest rock album of all time. It changed the way people listened to music, defined a generation and has an emotional staying power that never gets old. As the only band to perform it start to finish in the region, and one of the few to do so from anywhere across the country, the performance of this unforgettable album by the local collective known as the Shabby Road Orchestra has the looks of becoming an annual tradition. Past shows have all sold out.
The Shabby Road Orchestra is an easy-going and musically ambitious collection of acclaimed Twin Cities club veterans, led by Adam Levy of the Honeydogs, guitarist John Eller, vocalists Brandon Sampson and Joe Carey, music producer John Fields and percussionist/multi-instrumentalist Ken Chastain. They are joined by keyboard, horn, woodwind and string players, including the celebrated Laurels String quartet.
For these performances of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band the personnel on stage will swell to 18 players including harp, strings and sound effects, making this a performance that is not to be missed. In addition to playing the album to its powerful conclusion that is “A Day in the Life,” the Shabby Road Orchestra will return for a second set of rarely-heard gems from the Beatles’ final five albums and B-sides.
