City of Shakopee Parks

The City of Shakopee has nearly 920 acres of parks and open space that include active, passive, developed and undeveloped park areas. Some of the cities most vibrant parks include:
Walking & Bicycling Trails
The City of Shakopee has a networked system of more than 60 miles of recreation and transportation trails for walking and bicycling. The trail system provides users the opportunity to interact and observe the natural resources of the river valley. Click here for a details City Parks & Trail Map.
Memorial Park
With access to the Minnesota Valley State Trail, Veterans Memorial Park is a central hub. The park is home to several historic sites, such as the Pond’s Mission site, 2,000-year-old Native American burial mounds and Shakopee’s veterans memorial monument. The Shakopee Chamber and Visitors Bureau is also located in the park.
Lions Park
Home to SandVenture Aquatic Park and an 18-hole Disc Golf Course, this park is a favorite for company picnics, family reunions and community events. The 50-acre park has a basketball court, playground, tennis courts, hockey rink and pleasure skating area. The park is also home to the Youth Building, an insulated log cabin available for rent year-round.
Also located at Lions Park is the Fun For All Playground – an inclusive playground intended to provide accessible age and development appropriate activities that stimulate all children physically, emotionally, and socially.
Southbridge Community Park
This newer park includes an off-leash dog park, trails, a hockey rink, a shelter/warming house and parking area. A City of Shakopee dog license is required for use of the off-leash dog area. Licenses can be purchased at the Community Center or online.
Huber Park
Nestled along the Minnesota River in downtown Shakopee, Huber Park was finished just in time for Shakopee’s sesquicentennial in 2007. It is home to several community events, including the Huber Park Performance & Event Series. The park has trails, an amphitheater stage, picnic shelter and a large, community-built playground.
Tahpah Park
Home of the City’s largest ball-field complex, as well as Joe Schleper Baseball Stadium, Tahpah Park has a large playground, eight softball fields and one football field. The outfields of the softball diamonds are also used for football in the fall.
Archery Park & Boat Landing
The Archery Park consists of approximately 10 targets placed at varying distances for field point use only. Access the range through the Minnesota River Boat Launch, on the east side of County Road 101.
17th Avenue Sports Complex
The 17th Avenue Sports Complex hosts soccer, football and other turf sports throughout the spring, summer and fall months. The Sports Complex includes approximately 40 acres of athletic fields.
