Shakopee and the surrounding region host a number of beautiful public and private courses, built for players of all skill levels. Here’s a sampling of what’s available.
Stonebrooke Golf Club offers a scenic 18-hole course with gorgeous greens, plenty of water and a natural stone waterfall. As the course’s website states, “With its elevation changes, mature trees and unique mix of great golf holes, it has unequaled character.” Plus, Stonebrooke has an inviting bar and restaurant for re-fueling after your time on the links.
This stunningly beautiful 18-hole course has impressive credentials. Rated 56th nationally among public courses, the club, in nearby Prior Lake, was also named the best new course by The Golfer when the course opened in 1996. Golfers enjoy the natural setting of Ponderosa pines, hardwoods, wetlands and wildlife habitats and revel in the challenge of the course’s 150 feet of elevation changes.
Play among the pines at this beautiful course. The 170-acre, par 72 course sits among native trees, winding Sand Creek, and natural wetlands. With 18 holes and five sets of tees, making it ideal for golfers of all skill levels.
The Meadows at Mystic Lake has a natural setting, 80 bunkers, 13 holes with water, 20 fountains and a 2,500 foot stream with four waterfalls, making this an uncommon course.
This striking18-hole course is nestled in a wooded, yet marshy area on the border of Lakeville and Prior Lake, conveniently located just two minutes from I-35. The course has garnered numerous awards over the years, including the honor, a few years ago, of being named as North American Golf Course of the Year.
For off-season visitors to the area, Golf Zone in Chaska offers rain, snow, or shine golf with 40 heated stalls, an 18-hole mini putt facility, indoor practice putting greens, and professionals on staff to get your off-season game up to par.
Chaska Municipal Courses
Just minutes from Shakopee is the City of Chaska, which plays host to two popular municipal golf courses, the Chaska Town Course and Chaska Par 30. The Town Course’s 18 holes span more than 285 acres of oak groves, open prairieand marshlands. The small yet challenging Chaska Par 30 is an excellent course for beginning golfers or for experienced players looking to improve their short game.
Also located near Chaska, this engaging18-hole course opened on former farmland in 1969. Today, this popular course is gorgeous and, yes, green.
